This weekend sucks.

The lone new release hitting theaters this weekend the found-footage exorcism movie The Devil Inside, which I will not be seeing.  I hate found-footage movies.  And I hate exorcism movies.  This movie could not be less appealing to me unless it starred Katherine Heigl and a horse.  Surely Heigl is reading the script for the … Continue reading

I’ll be back.

I’ve decided to return home to The Pork Chop Express.  I’ve seen over 100 2011 releases, so there has clearly been enough to discuss.  I’ve just gotten away from writing over the past few months and I feel shameful and lazy for it.  I can do better.  My goal for 2012 is to match the … Continue reading

Where am I?

In case you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m abandoning The Pork Chop Express. It’s run out of gas. I’m pulling it into the garage. Pulled the parking brake. Ok.  I’m done. I can now be found here with my good friend Frank (aka Pompous Film Snob).  I just posted an early review of … Continue reading

I just saw The Tree of Life

I think it would be an injustice to Terrence Malick to even attempt to write a review right now.  I will say this: The Tree of Life might not be the best movie ever made, but it is definitely the greatest movie ever made. Think about it. See the film.

Pom Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold

Please, forgive yourself if you still haven’t yet figured out what Pom Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold is about.  I had no idea until I actually saw it — even after watching the trailer.  But the film is essentially a “making-of” documentary following filmmaker Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) as he attempts to … Continue reading

Mini-Reviews: Super, Cracks, Trust, and Scream 4

Sorry I haven’t been keeping up with my regular reviews.  I’ve been a little too busy, but that doesn’t mean I’m falling behind on my movie watching.  Here are some half-assed reviews/recommendations of some movies currently playing in theaters and/or On Demand. Super, from writer-director James Gunn (Slither), is another one of those pedestrian superhero … Continue reading

It’s coming…

I’m probably the only film blogger who hasn’t posted his 2010 top 10 list yet.  Don’t fret.  I will likely post my final list (and various other awards and nuggets) within the next week. I’ve been holding out this long in an effort to make my list as comprehensive as possible.  Last year, I prematurely … Continue reading

Shameless Self Promotion

I don’t know how many of you know this, but I also write for a great website called Click here to read a new article I wrote for the site.  I’m pretty proud of it. Mark Cuban even commented on it (at least he says it’s him).  I’m kind of a big deal.

If you’re wondering why I haven’t been posting much lately, it’s because I work full-time at the Chicago International Film Festival and have been enjoying my privileges by seeing all sorts of great films from all over the world after my shifts (nine so far this week!).  I’ll be posting a roundup featuring mini-reviews of … Continue reading
