Quick Thoughts: Love Happens
With Aaron Eckhart, Jennifer Aniston and Martin Sheen.
Okay, I’ll admit it. This movie was surprisingly quite enjoyable. Sure, it was overly sappy at times and a bit Lifetime-ish as a whole, but it has a lot of heart. The main problem with Love Happens was with its title and promotion, as it really isn’t as much a love story as it is a story about dealing with grief. Shit Happens might have actually been a more fitting name, but that would have made for a tougher sell. As it is, the movie is well acted, beautifully shot and has some nicely placed musical selections. It isn’t really funny, but it isn’t supposed to be. It doesn’t try to shove an awkwardly unfunny gag down your throat every couple minutes like a lot of the romantic comedies out there. Love Happens is now available on DVD, and you could do a lot worse for a date night in.
